Jiro Ono workspace

I created this space for Jiro Ono's top floor workspace. I wanted to keep it clean and simple to match his aesthetic with more complex construction below as I will post when it is developed. The most difficult aspects were getting the scale correct and inserting a landing for the stairs to connect with the structure.

I created this spiral staircase to lead up to a restaurant/kitchen workspace for Jiro Ono. My aim is to utilise these stairs as an entrance point to the upper level and to show some design creativity I was experimenting with in the handrail.

Layer, String

This is the original page of sketches I did as inspiration when designing my building. I kept the layering concept of wrapping around the building as shown in the top sketch but changed the shape of the actual building to allow a larger work area for Ono. I kept the access point of the spiral in the lower image for Stradivari's workspace, however decided it would be more appealing to him as my client if his workspace was a large open area.

Building Sketchup 2

Layer, String

This is an above ground view of my building highlighting the outside amphitheatre for Stradivari's performance and Ono's inside restaurant area with his kitchen upstairs. The view also shows the spiral as purely decorative purpose, which then changes to an access point to Stradivari's below ground studio.

Layer, String

I combined Ono's signature layering technique he applies to his creations with the classical string aesthetic of Stradivari's harps to create my building. This view shows both above ground and below ground regions with a restaurant for Ono inside leading out to a performance amphitheatre for Stradivari.

C: Something beautiful

A smile encapsulates the happiest of human emotions; joy, laughter, love,  ecstacy, bliss. What could be more beautiful...

B: Great architecture

The architectural design of the treehouse fascinated me because it manages to capture the naturalness of the surrounding environment while demonstrating innovative and modern design features, such as the apparent suspension of the treehouse.

A: Creative work

My appropriation of a classic tale in modern times. How the endless pursuit of perfection results in a dystopian society, how the uprooting of rudimentary moral values strips away the very essence of humanity, how the human race loses its way in an unescapable maze. A utopian existence is a mere dream and to pursue it only leads to chaos and tragedy...
